Of course this a 100% toy, and not meant to actually sew much more than two pieces of cloth together. But I would have LOVED to have had this when I was ten years old. I used to sew clothes for my Barbies back then - by hand - and I was so proud of them. I would have been beside myself to have a little machine that could do very basic stitching.
And here is how it works
It makes a perfectly nice, even stitch which is a full lockstitch and will actually hold the fabric together.

I actually had this as a child. I was never able to get it to work properly, and blame it for my aversion to VSMs with a shuttle, LOL. I'm glad you had better luck.
ReplyDeleteMy wife recently bought a vintage Singer Toy Lockstitch Sewing Machine for our niece. It looks identical to the one above but the decal is reversed - orange with white lettering. We are looking for an AC / DC 3 volt adapter that will work with this toy. Does anyone know of where we may purchase an adapter or if there is an aftermarket one available that will work with this toy ? Thank you.
